About Kahala Catamarans - Oahu
Carl Mento - Captain Carl was born right here on Oahu in 1954.  A USCG licensed boat captain since 1977, Carl has been bringing unforgetable memories to Oahu's visitors for over 30 years!  In his free time you'll find Carl scuba diving, horseback riding or  sailing off Oahu's coast with his beautiful wife Thelma.
Gaelyn Penberthy - Gaelyn was born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand and made Hawaii her permanent residence in 1993.  When she isn't captaining the Kahala Kai, you'll most likely find Gaelyn somewhere on, in or near the ocean, and most likely with her doggies.
Jocelyn Orosz - Originally from Connecticut, Jocelyn made Hawaii her home in 2001, and has worked for Kahala Catamarans since 2006. When she's not aboard the Kahala Kai, you'll most likely find Jocelyn surfing, snorkeling or scuba diving.
Thelma Mento - Originally from the Philippines, Thelma now calls Oahu, Hawaii her home.  When she isn't working aboard the Kahala Kai, you'll most likely find Thelma spending time with her husband Carl.
Kahala Catamarans was launched in early 1988 and immediately began taking snorkel tours to famous Hanauma Bay.  The Hanauma Bay picnic and snorkel excursions were an immediate success with Hawaii's visitors.  Unfortunately, the state of Hawaii implemented changes to its rules and regulations, thus prohibiting boats from entering Hanauma Bay.  By late 1989, Kahala Catamarans was contracted by well known Kualao Ranch to provide a snorkel expierence for the ranch's guests.  Over the next few years, our snorkeling trips became so popular, that Kualoa Ranch began to sell the picnic snorkel tour as an activity seperate from other ranch venues.  Kahala Catamarans served the Kualoa Ranch guests until late 1996, when the lure of creating its own picnic snorkel cruise became irresistible.  From 1997 to present, Kahala Catamarans has been providing Oahu's visitors a variety of different activities such as snorkeling, sailing, sunset cruises, private charters, weddings, and wakes to name just a few.   Feel free to contact us anytime for more information on any of our activities or if you have any special requests.
